Joseph Pilates the inventor of Pilates called his method “Contrology”. All exercises are performed with intention, precision and control. Pilates strengthens and stretches, coordinates and aligns the whole body. His method consists of excerises on the mat and on different apparatus’ Joseph Pilates himself developed. Pilates uses the resistence of springs which offer dircetion but also challenge. Pilates is the perfect system to find balance between strenght, stretch and correct alignment. It is a whole body workout initiating each excercise from a strong core working towards the extremeties.
For me Pilates became the very basis for all the other sports I do. Be it running, bootcamps, HIIT, TRX – I apply all my learnings from Pilates to any other kind of sport which makes my training more effective and efficent, prevents injury and provides a optimal alignment and posture – whatever sport you do.
